Person-Centred Counsellor (Dip)
DBS Enhanced. (MNCPS Acc.)

Are you feeling overwhelmed? Struggling with life challenges? Do not know which way to turn?

This could be for many reasons, such as work, relationships, health, bereavement, gender or sexuality, or maybe you are questioning who you are.

Sometimes, there is not just one problem; there is often a lot going on. You may experience anxiety, stress, depression, guilt, shame, low self-esteem, tiredness or struggling to put one foot in front of the other.

When you come to see me, you are in control. You decide what you want to talk about and what direction you want to move in. You know yourself better than anyone. My role is to be with you on your journey. Helping you explore what is happening within you and help you, find the answers.

Sit and Talk - In Person or Remote

Through my experience as a counsellor every person is unique.

Taking the steps for counselling is never easy, and one of the key elements is building our relationship.

I offer you a place that is safe, where you can speak openly without fear of judgement, and explore areas of your life that you need help with. This can be long-term or short-term therapy.

Each session lasts 50 minutes.

Walk and Talk

For some of you being in a counselling room can be challenging, sitting face to face. It may also resonate for those of you who enjoy being out in nature, which is why I offer walk and talk therapy.

Walking in nature can help you have the space to breathe, and relax whilst talking to me. You may find metaphors, which connect to you, whilst we walk either in a forest or down by the sea or just walking in the Isle of Wight's beautiful countryside.

You choose the pace of the walk which will last for approximately 50mins.

I always advise that our first session is carried out inside so that we can go through the initial assessment, contracts and any any other matters.

Counselling and Bowen Treatment

Having counselling and Bowen therapy together is treating the body and mind as a whole rather than separate entities.

Bowen therapy is a gentle, non-invasive bodywork technique that focuses on stimulating the body's healing abilities through gentle movements on specific points.

You may find that you have pain in your body but there is no specific reason why. This may be due to trauma, stress or anxiety, and it is shown in your body through pain.

Bessel Van der Kolk wrote The Body Keeps the Score and discusses how trauma and emotional pain can manifest physically in the body, "Trauma is not just an event that happens to you. It is also the way your mind and body respond to the event. The body keeps the score".

Testimonials

I did not think counselling was for me, I was very dismissive of going. I am grateful that I did, and I would come again in the future.
I thought that I would be judged, but I was wrong. I have never felt more free to talk about my issues. I am continuing my session with Alicia for the foreseeable future as I have a lot going on in my life.
